Welcome to my Small Group Workshop: Crafting Four Elegant Traditional and Modern Lampshades over Five Days!

Embark on a journey of creativity and craftsmanship in Brighton as you discover the art of crafting exquisite lampshades using both traditional and modern techniques. Throughout this immersive five day course, you’ll delve into the intricate process of creating two hand-stitched traditional lampshades—a gathered and a pleated lampshade—alongside two modern classics: a lined box pleated lampshade and an empire hardback lampshade.

The traditional lampshades are the epitome of sophistication and grace. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, they feature luxurious fabrics on the top, exuding opulence and style. Enhanced by pleated linings with self-binding trim, they boast a seamless and refined finish. However, the true hallmark of the gathered and pleated lampshades lies in the hand-sewn gathered ruffle adorning their bottom edges, imparting depth and texture to their exquisite design. Each ruffle is delicately crafted to perfection, resulting in stunning masterpieces that will elevate any space with their whimsical charm.

Crafted with precision and attention to detail, box pleated lampshades are renowned for their captivating three-dimensional design. They effortlessly fuse elegance, versatility, and timeless appeal, making them a sought-after choice for any space. Comprising an empire hardback shade as the base and a box pleated loose cover, these lampshades offer a unique blend of style and functionality. Throughout the  tutorial, you’ll first master the construction of an empire hardback lampshade, learning techniques such as template design and edge rolling for a flawless finish. In the second segment, you’ll delve into the art of sewing a box pleated loose cover with lining, creating a seamless and elegant addition to your lampshade.
