How do I know which course is right for me? All our courses are suitable for beginners and those with some experience in lampshade making. No sewing experience is required, as you will be taught everything in class. Our one-to-one workshops are popular as the course can be tailored to your level and needs. You’ll learn a new craft at your own pace and receive business advice and trade tips to help turn your skills into a business.

How can I find out when your next workshop will be? For our one-to-one classes, we work flexibly. You provide us with dates that work for you, and we’ll confirm our availability before booking the course.

Where are the workshops held? Our workshops are held in our Brighton studio and a spacious workshop in the city center. The address will be provided after booking.

When do I pay for a course booked with Moji Designs? To secure and confirm course bookings, full payment in advance is required. Payments can be made through Bacs or PayPal. Bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis, and spots are limited.

Do I receive an email confirmation of my booking? Yes, after booking, you’ll receive an email confirming payment and a welcome pack with all necessary information.

Do I receive a payment receipt for my booking? Yes, you’ll receive a payment receipt for your booking.

Can I pay for a course using a gift voucher? Yes, gift vouchers can be redeemed against course costs.

How long is a voucher valid for? 6 months

Do I need to bring my own sewing machine to the workshop? We have sewing machines in the studio, but you can bring your own if you prefer. Some basic machine stitching is involved in traditional lampshade making.

What do I need to bring along to the workshops? Just yourself! Everything else is provided. While many students bring their own fabric, we have a range available. Suitable fabrics include medium to lightweight options like dress and furnishing fabrics, cotton lawn, silk chiffons, and more. Heavyweight fabrics, nylon, polyester, and fabrics that fray easily are not suitable. PDF notes and images will be provided for reference.

Do I need to bring my own lunch? During one-to-one sessions, a light lunch is provided. If you have dietary requirements or preferences, let us know ahead of time.

How do I cancel a workshop? If Moji Designs cancels a course due to factors like insufficient attendance or circumstances beyond control, an offer of an alternative date will be provided. If canceled within 10 days of the start date, a full refund is offered. For student-initiated cancellations, a full refund is offered up to 28 days before the start date. For cancellations within 28 days, no refund is offered, but date transfers are possible up to 10 days before. In special circumstances like Covid illness or flight cancellations, contact us with proof for possible date transfers.

Is there parking available? Pay and display parking is available nearby. London Road station is the nearest, and taxis are also accessible.

Can I leave feedback about workshops? After each workshop, you can leave feedback with us. Your feedback helps us improve.

Do you have open days? Yes, a few times a year, we open our studios for people to visit and discuss projects. Follow us on social media for dates.
