It’s hard to describe until you’ve done it. It starts with the first cut, the first careful stitch, the first neat fold and you notice every little movement. There’s a rhythm to it, a quiet kind of focus that makes time feel slower. For a while, the outside world fades away and all that matters is the work in front of you. Your mind quiets, your thoughts settle, and there’s a kind of peace in the simple, steady motions. Piece by piece, the lampshade begins to take shape, and you realise you actually made this.
Elena came all the way from Spain to learn how to make lampshades, and watching her work was such a joy. Every fold, every stitch, every careful detail showed how much love and attention she put in. Seeing the finished lampshades reminds me that creating something by hand is truly worth it and if you’ve ever wanted to try this, consider this your sign.
Until next time,
