This lovely ruffled gathered lampshade, hand stitched by my lovely student Sheri this week, brings to mind the feeling of springtime.

It’s like seeing the first budding cherry blossoms appearing after a long winter, with the anticipation of warmer weather and sunny days spent outdoors.

The paisley pattern on the shade also evokes a sense of nostalgia and familiarity, reminding me of distant memories from childhood and its simple joys and cherished moments. The soft, dusky pink hue beautifully complements the fabric’s pattern, creating a pleasing harmony. And the delicate trim adds the perfect finishing touch, with a lovely ruffle hanging elegantly at the bottom edge.

Good morning, everyone! Hope you’re all doing well this Monday morning!

Another week kicks off here at the studio, and it’s shaping up to be a busy one. I wanted to share a little update from last week with you all - Sheri joined me locally from Brighton, and together, we started this wonderful project - A ruffle gathered lampshade in Indian block printed fabric..👌

Initially, Sheri took some time deciding on the lining, considering all the gorgeous options available at the studio. But once we settled on this stunning dusky pink fabric, it really brought everything together! We’re just about an hour away from finishing up this on Wednesday, and I can hardly wait to share the final result with you.

Keep an eye out because I’ve got plenty more lampshades in progress, and I hope they’ll inspire you to try your hand at this beautiful craft too.

Absolutely loving this lampshade project from earlier this week by my talented student, Zoe. This vintage-inspired beauty in dusky pink velvet is coming together perfectly, with the lining meticulously hand-stitched into place.

Sharing this stunning box pleated lampshade today, made during my recent five day lampshade masterclass.

The soft tones in the fabric give such a peaceful vibe, and I’m really impressed by how my student Kirsten nailed those neat pleats. It’s lined with a lovely white cotton fabric and has a hand-sewn hem, which really adds to its elegance and quality. This lampshade is all about class and top-notch craftsmanship!
