Construction of a medium size bowed empire shade using the traditional technique i.e. lining the frame using balloon lining method and stretching the pleated or gathered fabric with pinning method.

A simple light can be transformed into a stunning piece of home decor once its shade is covered with elaborated fabric manipulation techniques such as pleating variations giving any room special charm and character.

By spending 2 days at our studio you will learn the more advanced lampshade making techniques such as pleating or gathering. Students will be working on a medium size bowed empire shade. This course acts as a follow on from our two day traditional tailored soft lampshade making workshop where you learnt to prepare and bind the frame first and then fit and apply both the top fabric and lining.

This course will not only give you the opportunity to learn a new skill but will also provide you with the perfect chance to relax in a beautiful and inspiring setting and enjoy some quality personal time away from the pressures of everyday life.

By spending two days at our studio you will learn to make a pleated or gathered shade using the traditional tailored technique.Following subjects are also covered for new students with previous experience in lampshade making:
